Under the Dominican Constitution and laws, citizenship may be applied for by children of Dominicans born abroad, by foreign nationals who marry a Dominican citizen, and by foreign nationals who opt for ordinary or privileged naturalization.

People born abroad to a Dominican father or mother, through the declaration and recognition of their descent.

Foreign nationals married to a Dominican citizen, once the requirements and waiting periods set by law are met.

Foreign nationals who have held a valid Permanent Residency Permit in the country for more than two years.

Privileged naturalization

Foreign nationals who have made substantial investments in the Dominican Republic or meet other special conditions.
